The Opportunity

River Run Park was envisioned as more than a tournament complex—it was designed to be a regional landmark. Positioned along the Black Warrior River and integrated into the Northport Shore development, the goal was to create a championship-ready venue that could host large-scale baseball and softball events while delivering a walkable, scenic, fan-first experience.

The challenge was to blend performance with place—building a complex that could operate at tournament scale without sacrificing atmosphere or community connection.

The Approach

Capacity Sports Group positioned River Run Park as a next-generation tournament destination by pairing high-performance artificial turf fields with stadium-level infrastructure and thoughtful site design.

Nine turf diamonds were built for safety, durability, and tournament efficiency, while two signature stadium fields—one for baseball and one for softball—anchor the complex with grandstand seating and press box amenities, creating a true championship environment for marquee games.

A landscaped central promenade connects all fields, improving circulation, enhancing sightlines, and preserving the park’s scenic riverfront setting.

Why it works

River Run Park succeeds because it was designed with intention—combining championship-level infrastructure, efficient tournament flow, and a fan-forward environment that makes every visit memorable.
